WHOLE BARRACKS REWARDED- FORT HOOD, TX
MW BUILDERS OF TEXAS, INC. AWARDED $42 MILLION CONTRACT FOR FORT HOOD BARRACKS PROJECT

The US Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District has awarded MW Builders of Texas, Inc., Temple, TX a Design-Build contract in the amount of $42,157,000 for the design and construction of the Whole Barracks Complex, Fort Hood, Texas. Under a contract with the US Army Corps of Engineers,
MW Builders will be providing design, engineering and construction services for the Whole Barracks Complex which will consist of both Unaccompanied Enlisted Personnel Housing and Company Operations Facilities. MW Builders will lead a team of design partners that will include Gossen Livingston Architects of Wichita, Kansas and Huitt Zollars, Fort Worth, TX.
The complex will be constructed on adjacent sites that total approximately 16 acres and, in addition to the barracks and operations facilities, will include a visitors center, site amenities and several new parking areas. The new complex will include 162 living units designed to house 2 soldiers per living unit, housing a total of 324 soldiers. Each living unit consists of a private bedroom and closet for each soldier, and a shared bathroom and kitchenette.
The barracks will include six structures under a single metal roofing system and each structure will house a commons area, postal and laundry facilities. The new Company Operations Facilities will provide space for operational administrative support, storage and transport of supplies. The Operations Facilities will house ten company’s once construction is complete. MW Builders of Texas is a Temple based, 100% employee owned company specializing in commercial, government and educational construction contracting.
MW has operated from their facilities in Temple since the late 80’s, maintaining a presence at Fort Hood during that entire time, building numerous barracks, operation facilities, dining facilities, tactical shops, the air traffic control tower at Robert Gray Army Airfield as well as other infrastructure amenities.

In September of 2005 MW Builders was awarded the Enlisted Barracks V Complex at Fort Hood which is nearing completion. “We are currently in the punch and closeout phase of the Enlisted Barracks V Complex at Fort Hood and this award is certainly good news for our employees currently working at Fort Hood.” During the peak of construction MW Builders estimates that over 250 construction workers will be present on the project site.
In addition to the Enlisted Barracks V project, MW Builders also has separate contracts currently under construction at Fort Hood including a Tactical Equipment Shop and a new Physical Fitness Center.
Chadwick expects the Government to issue a Notice to Proceed within the next 2-3 weeks with a design and construction duration of 600 days.
