MW BUILDERS OF TEXAS, INC. AWARDED FORT HOOD CONTRACT

The Corps of Engineers, Little Rock District has selected MW Builders of Texas to construct $17.5 million dollar Unit Operations Facility.

The Department of the Army, Little Rock District of the Corps of Engineers has selected MW Builders of Texas, Inc., of Temple as its design-build contractor for the Unit Operations Facility at Fort Hood. The facility will include a Four Company Operations Facility and a Medium Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility. The contract amount is $17,520,000 and the construction duration will be 519 calendar days.

MW Builders has completed a number of projects for the Corps of Engineers and has several projects currently under construction. Also at Fort Hood, MW has just recently broken ground on the Whole Barracks Complex, a $45 million design- build project that will provide living quarters for 304 soldiers and operational facilities for four companies when complete. MW is scheduled to turnover the Tactical Equipment Shop VI to the Army next week and has recently completed for occupancy a Physical Fitness Center at West Fort Hood.

The Unit Operations Facility project will be constructed on two separate sites at Fort Hood, one site to include the Company Operations Facility that will provide over 36,000 square feet of administrative space, a readiness module and covered hardstand. The second site will include the Tactical Equipment Maintenance Facility which will provide 30,000 square feet of maintenance and repair bays, training classrooms and administrative space. Both sites, separated by approximately 1 mile, include site improvements, utilities, asphalt and concrete paving.

MW Builders contract with the Government includes providing all design functions for the project in addition to construction services. MW will partner with Gossen Livingston Associates, Inc. an architectural firm located in Wichita, Kansas, and various other design sub-consultants.

We get the unique opportunity with design build projects to work with the Owner, the end-user and our design team from the inception of the project which allows us to provide input into the design utilizing our building experience."

During the peak of construction, MW estimates that there will be between 100 and 125 employees spread across both sites. MW has relationships with the local Ft Hood subcontracting community and plans to utilize local subcontractors to perform this work.
